We are available by appointment. Please call us at 250-733-1173 to request a session. We do not post office hours as our work can take us away from the clinic. We do post a schedule for general instruction/practice group sessions on the Calendar page. This page also provides other general information such as times we may be closed for a holiday.
We will need to know when you call:
What your primary concerns are
What days and times are best for you
The length of visit time you prefer (60 minutes, 90 minutes, or 120 minutes)
The best way to contact you
Your preferred name
If there is a chance that someone else could answer your phone, please let us know who that person is and if it is okay to leave a message with them or to work with them to schedule your appointment.
Your preferred payment type.
An email, if you have one, that we can use to send a link to your client portal. The portal allows you to see upcoming appointments, links to video sessions, shared documents, like home program information and invoices, and intake forms.
We might ask you to complete some intake paperwork prior to your appointment, even if it is for a general instruction/practice group session. Some of this will be administrative. Some will ask about you*. Please complete them all the way through as it helps us prepare for our time together. It also helps us to focus on your most important concerns during the session which can be especially helpful when you don't have a lot of time or funds to spare.
*Our focus throughout your care will be in supporting you to remain a 'doing' person. As such, our questions might include ones about if/how well you are doing something. These questions may feel a bit different than the ones you normally answer about physical ailments. This does not mean that we do not consider physical ailments, we do. We simply do so in the context of how well you are able to engage in your occupations (activities that occupy your time, see the Services page for more). Occupational engagement is the goal of our profession.
If possible, please provide us with copies of relevant medical reports prior to your appointment so we can review these in advance.
If you cannot get them to us before your session, please try to bring them for your first session.
If you cannot get them at all, that's okay. This is not a school exam. We are simply trying to paint the best picture we can of the factors that may be influencing your concerns. Do the best you can to remember your medical/psychological care history, medications, supplements, and similar, results of x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and anything else you might think is relevant. If you write them down, we can scan your notes into your record with us.
Do, please, wear clothing. Comfortable clothing that allows you to move is usually advisable however people, including us, have done plenty of physical activities in blue jeans and boots. So long as you're not naked or nearly naked, whatever works for you works for us.
You are welcome to bring small items that help you feel better. Some people have brought an item they like to hold, pillows, blankets, water bottles, and snacks. It is up to you.
If we have anything specific that we would like you to bring, we will let you know separately.
Please be on time. If you cannot, please let us know as soon as you are able. We do not reduce the session rate if you are late.
If you are finding that it is a bad driving day due to weather or an increase in your symptoms, you can let us know as soon as possible and we can switch the session to video or phone depending on what type of technology you have (video camera and audio options or phone only options).
Please see the Fees page, at the bottom of the FAQs for more policy information.
