Makena Health & Wellness is a small Occupational Therapy clinic focused on providing care that slows down, listens, and supports you in understanding and making the decisions you want to make.
As we are happy members of a rural community with limited resources, we also provide care support for other concerns on a case-by-case basis such as: Care for people with neurological conditions like post-stroke/acute brain injury, neurodegenerative conditions like MS, and neurocognitive decline as seen in dementia; accessibility and safety modification and recommendations such as tips on how to do things differently, assessments for items like wheelchairs and walkers, and helpful tool and technology options; health management coaching, or another concern that you identify.
We also offer a Person with Person service for those times you just want to explore your thoughts about a concern and/or ask questions. Click here to learn more.
OT care can be as diverse as the people who seek it. Its inherently dynamic nature inspired clinic founder, Bebe Makena, to become an OT and to open MH&W. She is supported by her husband, a retired 20-year RN and ocean engineer, Severino "Sevi" Dubler. They came to the southern Cariboo from northern New Mexico in the USA which you can see in Bebe's photo to the right. The pair have provided care in rural communities, including home-based care, for most of their respective careers. We offer individual in-person and online appointments. We also offer in-person and online small group sessions and public instruction and practice programs. While comfortable clothing can be helpful, it is not required.
We do have weather, cancellation, and no-show policies.
You may be asked to complete some intake paperwork. If you can do this via the internet, wonderful. If not, don't worry. We can assist you with alternative options.

We know what it is like to experience financial challenges and have designed most of our services to have modular elements. This means that, if it is appropriate for you, we can pair individual and small group sessions to lessen the overall cost. We can also work with you to focus in on only the most important concerns that you have in as few individual sessions as possible, maybe even only one session. Additionally, we offer inexpensive public instruction and practice programs for the folks who want to learn a skill that they then apply on their own.
For those seeking trauma care, we offer a free getting-to-know-you session. We understand and respect that it is important to feel like we're safe people with whom you can explore your concerns.
